What We Do

 

Save Half on Books specializes in selling books to public, private, and school libraries at 50-95% off the list price.  We carry high-quality adult and children books consisting of Accelerated Readers, award winners, and hard covers.  All our books are new.  We take pride in service and face-to-face dealings with our librarians.  Our office and warehouse is located in San Antonio, TX, but we have representatives across the state.  We look forward to saving you at least half on your book purchases!

 

 

Company History

 

“S.A.V.E. (Suzie And Vic Enterprises) Half Price Books for Libraries” began in Forth Worth in 1989 when Victor Hotho and Suzie Barbee were married.  Hotho was a second-generation book-jobber, and used his tens of years in the book business to lay the foundation for S.A.V.E.  Suzie and Vic owned and operated S.A.V.E. as a couple until 1992 when they hired their first sales representatives.  The warehouse and office soon moved to Schulenberg, TX in April 1993 as a result of increased demand and much-needed warehouse space.  When Hotho was ready to retire, Scott Gillette purchased the company on May 1, 2006.  Gillette gave the company a new name, “Save Half on Books”, moved the office and warehouse to San Antonio, and brought the company to the World Wide Web at www.savehalfonbooks.com.
